Arborist Site Inspections

An arborist site inspection is a professional assessment of trees on or adjacent to a property or construction site, conducted by an ISA Certified Arborist. The inspector evaluates tree health, structural condition, compliance with tree permits, and the adequacy of any existing tree protection measures. A written report documenting findings is provided.

Site inspections are typically required at key stages of a construction project: before work begins, during active construction, and upon project completion. Municipalities across the GTA commonly specify mandatory arborist inspections as conditions of tree permits, site plan approvals, and subdivision agreements. They are also requested when a property owner wants an independent assessment of tree health or protection compliance.

Our inspections include: assessment of all trees within or adjacent to the project area; evaluation of tree health, structural condition, and risk; review of existing tree protection fencing and root protection measures; documentation of any bylaw violations or permit non-compliance; and a written inspection report with photographs. We can also provide recommendations for remedial action where required.

Most residential inspections take 1–2 hours on site. Larger construction or development sites may require a half-day or full-day visit depending on the number of trees and the complexity of the site. We provide the written report within 1–2 business days of the inspection.

Municipalities frequently require documented arborist inspections at specific project milestones, such as before footings, after rough grading, and at project completion.

Early identification typically avoids Stop Work Orders and costly penalties.
